Review of SE7EN
SEVEN or often stylized as SE7EN, is a crime thriller movie released way back in September 22, 1995. This 2 hours and 7 minutes film was directed by one the Best, David Fincher and written by Andrew Kevin Walker.
This movie takes place in the 80s New York when Crime and Drug Addiction was on the rise. Detective Lt. William Somerset played by Morgan Freeman was called to Investigate a Murder of man who apparently died of overeating. His Guts burst out and killed him. He was paired with David Mills played by Brad Pitt. Both of them were opposite from each other. Mills was All Talk and had anger issues. Mills was newly transferred here with his Pregnant Wife and William was Retiring in a Few days. At first William didn't want this case but sometimes you have to do things you don't want to. The second murder was of a famius Lawyer and like the story “Merchant of Venice” he was missing a Pound of Flesh and the Word “Greed” was written there with his Blood. This made William wonder and he went to the First crime scene where behind something he found the word “Gluttony” written. The third murder of a Drug-Dealing Pederast who was restrained to his Bed for exactly One Year and the Killer took photos everday and marked the Pictures by Date. The word “Sloth” was written there. Then a Remark by Mills inspired Somerset to research Libraries for anyone checking out books based on The Seven Deadly Sins as these murders were resembling those and this Search leads them to John Doe. Then the Fourth Murder takes place as a Prostitute was murdered by using a Blade Strap-on by a man on Gunpoint. This murder was for “Lust” and The Fifth Murder “Pride” was of Model whom John Disfigured and she tooke her own life.
Then Somerset and Mills arrested John as he surrendered and promised to disclose the “Envy” and “Wrath” victims only if these two take him to that location alone. After reaching the Place a Delivery Truck comes there and the Deliveryman says that the Customer specifically asked the Delivery to be made then and there. The Deliveryman gave a Box. That box contained the Head of Mills's wife. The Sixth Murder was of “Envy” as John murdered Mills's pregnant wife as he was jealous of her and The Seventh Murder of “Wrath” was of John Doe whom Mills killed for killing his wife.
This film had a Unique Plot of it's time and was made of Budget of 33-34 Million USD and Grossed over 327.3 Million USD.
This movie is one of the best I've watched and recommend it to all. A total 4.5 stars for this.
