The Whispering Woods

 In the small town of Willows End,lies a dense Forest that bordered the Community.It was known as the Whispering Woods.It is such a place where the wind carries secrets and shadows hold untold stories.Even each trees look like they are witnesses of countless Mysteries.

One foggy evening,local detective Sarah Bernett received a distress call from a hiker from the hiking trail of the woods.The hiker had stumbled upon a chilling scene,a lifeless body surrounded by a circle of trees.The body was later identified as the body of Mr. Thomas Vercetti’s.A renowned businessman with many enemies across town.

Sarah arrived at the crime scene with her team and quickly surrounded the spot.After handing the body to the Forensics Department and a primary investigation of the spot,Sarah returned to HQ.

The case was given to Sarah as she had a great track record in solving these type of mysterious murders in the past.The main investigation began the next day.Sarah went alone this time in the woods.It’s actually her habit to work alone.

She arrived at the scene.The time was Evening and it was very foggy.Her flashlight cut through the dense fog as she marched forward.The woods was eerily silent that day,only sounds were heard were the breaking of twigs and dried leaves under her boots.

She arrived at the crime spot.It was almost in the middle of the forest.Then something peculiar caught her eyes – a faint trail of footprints leading away from the body,disappearing in the Thicket,a lesser explored part of the Forest.

Sarah followed the new trail but she felt the woods watching her every move.The deeper she ventured,the more she felt the weight of the unseen eyes upon her.Suddenly she heard a twig snap behind her back.She spinned around with her heart racing but found nothing,only dense fog and opressive silence.

The trail of footprints led Sarah to a Wooden Cabin.It was buried within the deep parts of the Woods.The cabins door was locked.Sarah broke the padlock and went inside.What she found inside shocked her to the core.

Sarah had uncovered the deepest and darkest secrets of her newly transferred town.Each and every member of the town was a Criminal.Kidnapping,murders,money laundering,rape almost everything was done here.Appearently Sarah had discovered their secret meeting room.The room had enough evidence to put everyone behind bars.

Sarah had just come out to call HQ to send backup when she saw a humane figure far away in the Fog.While wondering who it is,the figure showed itself and Sarah immediately recognized him as the Chief of Police,Mr. Lance Vance.

Sarah had only moved a foot forward to tell him what she had discoverd,that she saw he had an axe in his hand.The axe was bloody what looked like fresh Blood.Sarah only asked,“Please don’t tell me it’s you.Please.”

“Sorry Dear.But you can not be left alive after what you’ve seen.I don’t know how that Thomas knew about this but he was a Dead man walking anyway.His knowing about this just gave me a reason to kill him sooner.His death was a Message to all like him.We here,dear are a group of organised crime and we have been doing our deeds here even before You and I were even born.So every outsider who knows are put into Dark Sleep.But you are an exception,we are Lovers afterall,So I’ll only ask once.Answer cleverly.Do you wish to join us?” said Lance.

“**In a shaky voice** Drop your weapon Mr. Lance,On your knees and hands were I can see them.” said Sarah.

“Oh poor Sarah,I don’t think you fully understand who’s in-charge here,do You?Just look around you” said Lance.

Sarah looked around and saw Humane figures surrounded her but were behind the thick curtain of Fog.Sarah felt a shiver down her spine as she saw almost everyone seemed armed.Sarah dropped her gun and dropped to her knees crying.

Lance came forward with heavy footsteps and said with tearful eyes and a Grim voice,“I wish that you had never seen this Dark side of us.But now,you have to go.But know one thing,our Love was True.I loved you wholeheartedly.My heart is breaking into pieces doing this to You.I’m sorry,please forgive me.”

Sarah said sobbing,“Don’t be sorry.It’s my fault I failed to recognise a Criminal.And also know one thing,I also loved you wholeheartedly.”

Sarah and Lance closed their eyes.A few teardrops fell from both of them.Then only a Swoosh sound can be heard.In a few moments,the crowded cabin area became silent again as almost everyone left.Only two were left,a lifeless beheaded body and a crying man holding it’s hand.But in a few hours,even he left and the body was left to be taken in by the Woods.
