The 10 Q's

In the quiet town of Sheffield,a group of friends had gathered around the flickering fire of a Campfire, faces half-lit by the fire’s glow and half-swallowed by the nights darkness.

They were telling scary stories and suddenly Emily proposed a game.It was a game she found in an old book, that promised to reveal their deepest fears through Ten chilling Questions. All at once agreed to play.Everyone wanted to know what they  feared the most.Emily brought the book from her backpack. The book looked Old,real old.The cover looked like Animal skin, pages looked like early stages of paper.Although pages were worn out,the inscriptions were clear as daylight.Emily gave the book to Rachel.Rachel glanced at it and looked like she fell in a trance. She started to read the Questions out loud like she was under some kind of spell. But everyone were too busy listening to the questions that they totally ignored it.

       1. What is the last thing you see before the lights go out?

As they pondered, the wind howled, and the dimming fire made everyone feel as if something unseen was breathing over it.

       2. What whispers your name in the Darkness?

A shiver ran down their spines as a distant whisper seemed to echo through the Woods.

       3. Who waits for you where the path ends?

The question hung heavy in the air,and the Woods seemed to lean closer,as if it was listening.

       4. What watches you from the mirror when you’re alone?

The group exchanged nervous looks, each feeling a moment of solitude disrupted by unseen and unexplained presence.

       5. What lies buried beneath the Big Oak tree?

A sense of dread settled of them, the old oak’s branches twisted shadows looked like skeletal hands reaching out.

       6. Who cries out from the lake at Midnight?

The sound of the water lapping suddenly took a mournful tone,as if the lake itself was Lamenting.

       7. What seeks vengance from beyond the grave?

The air grew colder, and the fire flickered, casting ghosting images dancing between them.

       8. What hides in the Attic when the house groans?

Memories of strange noises and fleeting shadows in their houses made them huddle closer.

       9. What hunger can never be satisfied?

The thought of an unsatisfied, unseen hunger made their heart race and their glance to be darted into the encroaching darkness.

      10. What will be waiting for you when you get Home tonight?

The final question left them silent, each contemplating the return to their seemingly safe abode.

Suddenly Rachel started looking around unsteadily, her body shivering, breaking a cold sweat.Everybody now noticed Rachel as she suddenly got up,dropped the book on the ground and packed her bag to leave.

“I don’t feel well.Looks like I’m gonna get a Fever.I’m going home.” said Rachel.Alex looked at her, felt her temperature and said that she was definitely getting a fever as her body was burning up.So all of them agreed they should also go as Rachel won’t be here.

As the group was leaving, they suddenly felt a change in the air,a thickening of the Shadows. They realised the game was more than just words;it was a key to unlock something ancient and hungry. As the air became heavy with slight laughter,a mumbling with what seemed like some type of a Hex in an ancient language, they made a run for their homes.Even Rachel ran for her life.

Now,as they reached home, the true horrors began. For the answers to every questions were not in their minds, but waiting for them, manifesting in the corners of their reality. The game had ended, but the nightmare had just begun.
